Many of you have asked if Photoshop Elements 4.0 for Macintosh is covered in my three version 4.0 titles. The short answer, unfortunately, is no.

When writing Photoshop Elements 4.0 - A Visual Introduction to Digital Imaging, Advanced Photoshop Elements 4.0 for Digital Photographers and Photoshop Elements 4.0 A-Z Adobe informed all book authors that there was to be no 4.0 release for Macintosh and so this was how the texts were written. As you are all aware this, now, is not the case, as the new Macintosh version of Elements is now on sale.

As for how appropriate the current editions of the books are to this new version let me say that it is true there are some differences between the two editions of the software - Windows and Macintosh. Most of these differences are structured around the photo browsing section (Bridge in the Mac version) of the program where the Windows version contains many more functions than the Mac. This said, the main editor workspace is exactly the same for both editions with menus and functions looking and working in similar ways. This means that the core techniques outlined in the books that are used for editing and enhancing you photos are the same on both Mac and Windows. In this way the books can be successfully used as a guide for the new Macintosh edition.

I have checked with my publisher about when I can do and update of the texts to include the new Macintosh and unfortunately this won't be until the end of the year. I will however be producing a summary of the differences between the two versions of Photoshop Elements 4.0 and posting this as a free download on the websites for all my Elements books (see links below).
